I'm kind of a UFC novice and I've always wanted to immerse myself in it, just too many options & distractions now. After the best comic book movie of all time oriented me to Georges St-Pierre who played Georges Batroc in Captain America: The Winter Soldier I wanted to see how he fought in THIS setting. He's on tonight against this guy Johny Hendricks??

And I go turn it on and there's Joe Rogan doing BOTH play by play and commentating! Thought Rogan just played around with it once in a while, he's hardcore. Main event still hasn't started yet, just preliminary bouts so far.

You serious??? hahahhahaahahahah ooohh god :dropjaw: I had no idea, I swear. See, THAT'S how much of a novice I am!? Don't tell me what happens brother.

After that I'm gonna watch the Seattle vs Denver Super Bowl on the NFL Network. I'm pretty sure that's live as well. :munchkill:

How old is Hendricks? I know St-Pierre is 33 because of the movie.

Ok, thanks! That's not a big deal age wise, sorry, it was a stupid question.

I think GSP announced his retirement this past spring.

He did. After the Hendricks fight. Rogan is a legit badass. Black belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. Trains with a lot of the UFC fighters.

Yeah, he's GSP. He's really good at the "25 minute dry hump" and the "jab to keep him away" techniques of fighting. After he got the title back from Serra, he always fought not to lose. Only finished one fight after that point, and it was the one where BJ Penn's corner threw in the towel. Prior to that, he was a fairly dynamic fighter.

That was a great fight, I honestly don't know who won?? Closest decision I've ever seen, including boxing matches. I thought I saw St- Pierre was up in points but Hendricks had more impact shots.

Not sure how they score this stuff, am I wrong? Did Pierre deserve the win, Rogan and the Jew clearly thought Hendricks won, but I'm not sure???

He's made a lot of money in the sport. Has proven more than just about any other Mixed Martial Artist could ever dream of, and has been a staunch advocate of ridding the sport of performance enhancing drugs. Plus he's getting older, and while he's still far and above better than the majority of the 170lb division, he's had some bad injuries and a general lack of motivation in recent years.

Shortly after his retirement he tore his ACL in his other leg, but there have been rumblings that he might return.

I'm a huge fan of GSP, his style, and what he did for the sport, but I hope he just moves on. The Hendricks fight was close, and most viewed it in favor fo Johny.

They also implemented random testing, so there aint gonna be as much cycling on and off.

I had GSP 48-47, but it could go either way.
It was one of those fights where GSP won the points, but Hendricks did more damage

    GSP is not officially "retired".
...and even if he was....he could still come back to MMA...like many others have.

It's always been tough to tell exactly what's going on with his body, head and life.
