I listen to a lot of the old AT40 charts from the 70s and 80s on iHeart, and every show is pretty much the same regardless of the era: 75% garbage and 25% classics

Maybe the next time I complain about how shitty music is today, I will pull up this list and realize it isn't so bad compare to other years. (ok, today's music is still far, far worse)

Wow! Most crappy soft rock shit.

The early / mid seventies was all about AM radio and Top 40. Album rock and classic rock had far fewer outlets. It was there but there might be one radio station for it in your market vs. 5 for AM top 40 shit. I remember turning the dial and hearing the same top 40 track on 3 or 4 radio station playing at the same time. "Half Breed, that's all I ever heard."
I remember hearing Joan Baez's version of The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down thinking wow what a great song and what a great songwriter. Little did I know. The Band for the most part didn't get the airplay or respect that they have in subsequent years.

I grew up with Casey and AT40. In some ways it was my MTV at the time. Great memories and a lot of shitty music no doubt.
The early / mid Seventies is still my go to period for classic rock. Stones, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Skynyrd, etc. etc. etc.
