What say you!? Charcoal for me. I own 4 Weberâ„¢ grills. I have a gas grill that my wife won at a Christmas party over 6 years ago and it's still in the box.

    interesting question

i have a big gas grill with all the bells and whistles (the rotisserre is a big hit) a small weber grill along with a brinkmann smoker and a brick pit BBQ for whole pig and other big meats.

now that being said, i enjoy the heck out of the gas grill cause its so easy, just flip a switch, close the lid and your grilling in 5 mins.

but i have to admit i like the taste of the coal prepared foods better, and smoking the meat is my all-time favorite

I would recommend getting a charcoal chimney. It's still not as fast as gas, but it really shortens the time it takes charcoal to get ready. Plus, since you don't use lighter fluid, you don't have to wait for that to burn off.
Gotta get the Weberâ„¢ one though.:giggle:

I've had mine for years. Now, my whole family uses them. My in-laws even switched from a gas BBQ after seeing how they work and how much better it tastes. :cheer:

I use a weber smoker. It has a heating coil installed, I soaked wood chips on it to smoke the food. This is for whole chickens, ribs, pork shoulder etc.

I also have a weber genisis. It is gas, I do like the way the flame sears the meat and I have a cast iron smoker box on the one side that I again can put soaked wood chips in to get the smoke.

The problem with charcoal is you have to get pure hardwood charcoal. Kingsford is made with cheap wood and has added petrochemicals. If you are going to use charcoal I suggest this brand, found at menards, home depot and also trader joe's and others. Five bucks at Ace according to this

My grilling is extremely serious. I have been reading, experimenting and perfecting it for 20 years now.

Anyone tried one of those Traeger wood chip grills? I'm thinking about getting one but the entry price point is high for something I've never tasted before.
