Just saw Pacific Rim without the benefit of seeing a trailer or knowing much about it. It's a new sci-fi film by Guillermo del Toro (or whatever the fuck his name is). Anyway, besides the two guys from Sons of Anarchy, Charlie Day from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is basically the 2nd lead. I really like that guy on the TV show, but I never figured him for a big part in a motion picture. He's definitely got the Rick Moranis vibe going for him...but more manic. He's really fucking good in the movie. Only posting this here because Howard sucks, there's no show to comment on, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the funniest fucking show on TV.

I think Rick Moranis is permanently retired. Loved that guy too...he was one of the funniest guys in the 80s. Since Charlie Day is also the creator of IASIP, it's refreshing to see a funny talented guy who has only had minor celebrity making it in movies. Charlie's part in Pacific Rim was sort of like Moranis' in Ghostbusters...kind of a 2nd storyline that gave him an opportunity to make a name for himself.

Rick Moranis was good in Ghost Busters, but Rick Moranis is no William Atherton.

Holy shit, I didn't know that. WTF is FXX? That can't be good, what with Charlie and Kaitlin Olson both showing up in big-name films, I can't imagine the TV show will last...who the fuck even HAS FXX?

His wife died of an aggressive cancer in the early '90s, by the middle '90s he was taking more and more time off to raise his kids. Eventually he decided he didn't miss the business enough to make any sacrifices in order to return.

I think Charlie Day was on the wrap up show last week asking how he could get on the Stern Show.

sunny in philly was funny but got old quick. everyone is over the top cartoonish goofy. low brow bullshit. not even close to being in the current top ten. check out legit on fx, you can find a few full eps on the fx website...much better than tired old cartoonish sunny in philly. curb your enthusiasm makes sunny look like childs play, which it is. legit is the current best after curb, much better than the shit show louis ck has become.

Dude, I was just about to say that! (Robin voice). He totally was Rick Moranis from Ghostbusters... except smarter.

Sure, he doesn't stand up very high, but a stand up guy nonetheless.

Moranis was on the Nerdist podcast a few weeks back and it was definitely worth the listen. He is doing country music type stuff now if I am remembering correctly.

I believe Rick Moranis will be signing on to the new GhostBusters movie that will likely get the green light according to those in the know:coffee:
