That's freaking awesome. I hate metallaca now, but this is great exposure for the band. Good thing Howard's negativity didn't rub off on Richard's desire to start a band.

I wonder how Howie will spin this into a failure by Richard?

He'll probably say "he can't be getting PAID anything for this, right, Robin?"

    Nice job and Congrats Richard.

hmmmm what show member has the most impressive summer side gig?

Opening for Metallica on a huge Summer Festival
Being the the judge on a reality show summer contest
publishing a ghost written cook book

Way to go Richard, one of the few seemingly genuine and pleasent personalities on the show. If he can somehow work this into a touring gig as an opening act he should hit the road and get off the Stern show as soon as possible (as it's probably more financially lucrative at this point.)

Also compared to Howard and Robin, he will be the only one to live a happy life, and grow old with a person who loves him

Good for Richard. He deserves every bit of success that comes his way.

I agree - good to see Richard having success doing something he loves instead of just chasing a buck like many others on the show.

Richard's side gig also is much better than Hein's plain burger tour on the Discovery channel that no one watches.

He does. Because he goes about his business, and doesn't run into the studio every chance he gets trying to crowbar plugs into the general discussion (a la Shuli). Just that one plug at the end of the show.

We should all go to support Richard. I've seen Metallica twice. They put on a great show and I'd love to hear The Day That Never Comes.

I saw Metallica back in 97 with Corrosion of Conformity.

They are phenomenal live, and play about 25 songs or so, making sure they play all their biggest hits (while at the same time throwing in some early tunes for the hardcore fans).

Metallica is one of those professional veteran bands with the skill to play their catalog they way you remember it and they spare no expense special effects (not on NIN level effects , but who does)

Why they have not been asked to play half time at the superbowl blows my mind

Because they might break out their cover of "Last Caress", and explode a million skulls across America.

That's cool. Richard is one of the guys on the show who I root for.

I am so happy for Richard. And I love the way he found out on the air by Lars himself.

Why I remember when Richard's album came out and Howard relentlessly goofed on it. Basically telling Richard not to quit his day job, with Robin cackling in the background. Shows how much Judge Howard knows about talent.

I only hope that Howard doesn't give Richard a hard time if he needs to take off a couple of days.
