Chelsea Clinton Buys A $10.5 Million Manhattan Apartment

    Chelsea Clinton has a new apartment in New York.
    The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently purchased a $10.5 million apartment at the Whitman near Madison Square Park.


    According to the Business Insider, Clinton’s new apartment features four bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms over 5,000 square feet. There is also a living room and a 252 square foot outdoor terrace with a “sweeping view†of the park.
    Chelsea and her husband Marc Mezvinsky closed on the apartment last month and they have already a visit from Chelsea’s parents.
    A source said: “It’s great for them, because it is in a hot neighborhood and it is very private … There aren’t hundreds of neighbors, and there is great security.â€
    The Whitman is located at 21 East 26th Street and features one condo per floor. The building was constructed int eh 1920s and was incorporated into the Landmark Madison Park Historic District in 2001.
    The Whitman writes: “The apartments are long and narrow, with all southern-facing living rooms looking out into the park. The master bedrooms are at the opposite end, facing 27th street.â€

    Her husband worked for Goldman Sachs and some hedge funds, he probably makes money shipping US jobs overseas to fatten profit margins for the rich.

    Hillary and Bill get between $150,000 and $1 million for just one speaking engagement. That's one day of work. They don't even write the speeches....they just have someone draft one for a couple of grand and then pocket the rest. When you can pull in close to $10 million a year as a couple between speeches and consulting fees you can afford to give your kid a few million for a house. Especially when it keeps the family name relevant. They are flaunting their status and power. Not to mention that the Clinton's don't pay as much in taxes as the average working class family.

    I think Bill Clinton made something like $82 million in under ten years just from speaking engagements. And lots of that money was made overseas where it wasn't taxed or hidden. And that's just speaking...factor in real estate, stocks, investments, 'consulting fees', and business acquisitions, and you're talking probably closer to $25 million a year for just letting people handle your money.

    Chelsea doesn't need to work. But she married into money and works a high profile job. You've got to keep the family name and money going. The Clinton family envisions itself as a power dynasty like the Prescott-Bush or Kennedy names. They want their daughter to become the next president or a powerful world leader. She's being groomed for higher office. If you want to be president from the left wing you need to be a limousine liberal. A champagne socialist. Live a life of luxury but then tell the peons to use public transportation, use green appliances, don't eat meat, and so on.

    She'll be the perfect senator in a few years.

    "I want to ban soda...and guns...and video games for the children".
    "I want to tax MLB and NFL and give the money to solar energy research".
    "I think that the police should only be allowed to hire minorities".

    Being President is guarantees you riches after you retire. Even your family can become rich by banking on the family name. Chelsea got in all the best schools and got all the best jobs based on her last name.

    we have friends whose son works for a hedge fund....needless to say, i always cringe when they brag about "how well he is doing". IMO, hedge funds rather than creating anything merely exist to shuffle money around.
    they're sickening.

    so chelsea (who used to work for a hedge fund) and her husband (who now does) can go fuck themselves. pathetic that these two very privileged people couldn't find something more productive or creative to do with their lives.

    most hedge funds havent matched market avgs in the last decade anyway. all those rich getting soaked by underperformance & fund fees by hedge mgrs.

    most every politician sickens me...if they don't go into the office rich they come out that way. i can even make an argument about the very wealthy working more for the greater good (or being more honest) than the average piece of shit.
    it's one of the reasons i supported mitt romney and thought he'd make an excellent pres. he already made his money. rather than sitting back and enjoying life he made the decision to dedicate his time to helping us get out of the obscene mess we are in. he wasn't running to make connections for his next job, in essence, he was volunteering to be president.
    unfortunately, more people didn't see it my way.
