They do guided tours of the place. I'd love to take a tour.

No thank you. One of three things happening... You'll start glowing till your dick falls off, wind up being auctioned to the highest bidding murderous rich guy, or developing super powers. Roll the dice.

I've shot it out with Spetznatz from under that Ferris wheel in Call of Duty. My Claymores were set in front of it.

Last summer we were in Kiev and I wanted really badly to take the tour of pripyat, the city near the nuclear plant. But my wife, her best friend and her husband all vetoed me saying "the only people that go there are stupid tourists"

Abandoned Theme Parks are fascinating to me. Its sad to see areas that were once filled with people having fun, now abandoned and in a never-ending state of deterioration. Eventually it will be unrecognizable.

In another thread, it was asked "one wish?"

May Howard's castles dissolve into ruin, as this mansion has.

Same here. There is an abandoned water park between Vegas and Barstow off the freeway in the middle of nowhere I always wonder about when I drive by. Who thought it was a good idea? Who put up the money? What were they thinking? Where are they now?

Lake Dolores! I remember the cheesy tv ads as a kid. It always looked cool but a bit trashy. They tried to bring it back in the late 90s too and went bankrupt quickly.

This is a good docu I saw on netflix or amazon. Ayt first it seems like the guy is a total kook with a crazy theory but as it goes on he seems to be a total kook with a very possibly correct theory about why Chernobyl happened, that it wasn't an accident.

There is a town in Pennsylvania called Centralia. An underground coal fire caused it to be abandoned. Not much left of the town. I think there are still a handful of people living there.
We should plan a Dawg Shed road trip and go there.

I've actually been there. It's scary as fuck.

The things that really got to me:

    1. You have to stay on the roads, because the fields are radioactive

    2. There are animals that live there.

    3. There's dead animals everywhere. Small rodents (squirrels) line the streets like roadkill, only They're radioactive and some have horrid mutations.

    4. There's pretty much nothing more than a couple signs stopping you from entering the area. There was a fence, but it's busted to shit and the parts next to the gates have fallen down.

    5. The fence fell down because people were pushing to get back in there

    6. It's not uncommon to see a human body or remains. Inside one of the houses is actually a family of corpses around a dinner table.

    7. The guides tell you a story about "the elephants foot", which is basically what's left of the core... If you even look at it, you're toast. They joke that you can see it from the outside so not to look at the building.

    8. The guides were complete drunks and treated a town that was radioactive as no big deal

    9. Any pieces of metal there are extremely brittle. You can break pipes with your hands! But the dust released by doing so is radioactive

    10. People are sick fuckers. There are TONS of practical jokes and things set up there. Dolls arranged in fucking positions, dildos randomly thrown about, roadkill and bodies arranged to be reading porn magazines. Fucking guides love to "show you something Russian"

Went there to collect some things from my grandfathers estate in Ukraine a while back. Have three cases of wine from a nearby winery... Worth $$$$$ today
