So I'm going to a Chinese restaurant with Miss Chriza tonight (STFU Schmoopy) and I'm just realizing, although I've eaten a lot of it (the Chinese food), my experiences have been pretty limited. I order General's Chicken 95 percent of the time, and Orange Chicken the other 5. I want recommendations for other delicious gooky dishes to sample.

Now, first off, I don't like fried rice. I don't get the big obsession with it. Also, I've tried bits of things. I had my first bite of Egg Foo Young recently, and it was pretty ridic, but I don't know if I want a whole plate of it.

Here's an example of the portions at this place. This is one entree of General's chicken.

Order some Lo Mein, in a joint like that if you order chow mein you'll get crispy noodles and shit.

Find out if they do a Chinese Chicken Salad, that shit is usually good

    Twice cooked crispy beef
    Mongolian pork
    Orange chicken
    Yui shan pork
Lo mein is my faaaaaaaaaaaavorite. Pork or beef.

    Get a pupu platter.

Crab puffs, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, won ton soup...

    All are good.

I have discovered that there are only a few places that I like to get Chinese food from. All of my childhood Chinese experiences were God awful because the restaurants were shoddy.

Spring rolls are better than egg rolls in my opinion. The wrappers are better.

Years ago we had a neighbor from Vietnam who would bring over these trays of food just to be neighborly. This shit was excellent. I never learned the name of any of the dishes, so I don't know if I've had Pho or not. But this woman made egg rolls that were out of this world. She'd make them in batches of 50, and the prep work took 5 hours. They had cabbage, onions, pork, cilantro, and gawd knows what else in them, but man, were they good.
    I can hear her now!
"Egg roh much work, just chop chop. You go to restaurant, egg roh nutting but cobbage. Jus' cobbage." :asian:

Oh, and as for Chinese food?
Szechuan mixed vegetables with shtrimp. Or Hunan Beef or Chicken. :hubba:

It's not as funny spelled out either. I'm the same way with Chinese. Most of the time I get Beef and Broccoli.
