If they've earned doctorate degrees, they are in fact "doctors".
I haven't had much experience with herbalists, but I know for a fact that chiropractors are a specialized type of doctor. They know their shit. And I'd assume that the education required for mastery in herbal shit is not much, if any less than that of a traditional physician. Maybe even more.
Um most chiropractors haven't earned doctorates. You do know that , right ??
Mel Blanc used to do a stand up routine with Carl Riener called the Two Thousand Year Old Man. Mel played the old man and Carl would interview him, like a David Frost interview. "back in the stone age we had doccurs. when you got sick you went to see a doccur. most times you died, but it was good to get a professional opinion. in order to become a doccur, you went out into the desert, put your hand on a rock under the moonlight and screamed at the stars 'I AM A DOCCUR!' ".
In california this is still how you become legal to practice: you hang up your shingle saying 'I AM A Doctor!"
the spelling of doccur has changed a bit in 2000 years
they pass a test after a weekend course, like optometrists?
They go to school. Nothing to do with getting a doctorate.
is it like the H&R Block school of tax preparation?
Yes that's why I said "If" they've earned doctorates, they are doctors.
Some have, some haven't. If they have then they ARE doctors.
If they haven't I suppose they shouldn't be calling themselves that.
But that doesn't mean they don't know their shit. I know lots of people who swear by chiropractors. And herbalists, acupuncturists, hypnotists, etc...
there's this doctor who advertises in the NYC subway cars called Doctor Tush, MD. He does ass lifts.
but Dr Tush has his MD.
Wait... seriously? This is legal? Is it widely practiced/accepted?
Insert kramers assman license plate here
It's all bunk
Herbalism, total health, works if it's a lifestyle, like anything else
there is no miricle drug/cure/etc
i believe its still the law in Calif. To practice you just have to open a practice. its why there are so many people offering strange forms of therapy there: any therapist merely has to hang his shingle to sell treatments.
maybe thats where seinfled got it from. 1-800-DRTUSH has been on local billboards and the newspaper back page ads for years and years. Now he's branched out into chemical peels, and cosmetic facial surgeries.
I have worked in and around western medicine for the past 23 years. Some Chiro's and Herbalists do in fact know their shit and can do more for you that an MD ever could. Even Massage Therapists have begun to receive recognition from the "MD" community. The general trend in westernized medicine is to look to the east - who have embraced alternative forms of therapy/medicine for centuries.
Medicine is science. Any treatment that works would be included under the umbrella of "medicine". It's not like medicine is about drugs and other things are about other things that work. Medicine is just science.
So by definition, stuff that is not part of medicine isn't science and is therefore bullshit.
Hand on a stack of bibles....
I figured that this is what you do for a living.
