What are yours? At the fenderbaum house since many of the family is musical we all eventually wind up having a wild christmas jam, and with my annual open house friends know to bring their instruments. It is a good fun time, and with mom, dad, and Marine nephew being in town for the holiday it is jam on.

That sounds fun! With the parents joining in, what kind of music do you play?

All types, basically we pretty cover most all instruments and this tradition has grown over the years, the way it works is someone starts a tune, and we all join in. We have everything from piano, hammond organ to a nice compliment of horns. Mom sings like an angel and my dad is on the keyboards, he is pretty much the Paul Schaffer of the group, runs things nicely. We have done metal jingle bells to god only knows what.

Best year ever we had over 25 musicians set up and jamming. Hopefully we can break that record this year, it has been years since mom and dad were up north for the holidays and the phone has been ringing.

Got the young nephew an American Strat for christmas, he is learning, and is getting pretty good on his knock off les paul. Time for him to have a proper guitar.

Wow Fender, you are a good uncle! I hope you have a great time this year. We haven't been back home for Christmas for around 10 years. I miss getting together with my whole family but we can't ever seem to coordinate it. We have a great time with just our little family though.

That music thing sounds very nostalgic. My family usually eats a lot, talks loud, and tries to pretend some of us don't hate other ones passionately...Oh, I almost forgot: several screaming children running amok like schmoopy on a binge!

PS: I wish you were MY uncle, but I want a real Les Paul, Custom shop '59, Lemonburst...

We're having the kids & grandkids over for Christmas morning breakfast. We decided to go out for Hibachi for Christmas dinner this year.

Normally I do not see my folks until sometime after new years, so this is a very special year indeed. And friends stopping by all day long is a blast as well. The funny thing is that many of my pals are serious musicians and like to show up a day early to get their sound right, I cannot help but laugh, you would think this was a carnegie hall event, as opposed to my great room.

I would absolutely love to have an accordion player that would just fill the room with sound.

So you know the sound....Folks make jokes about it, but
it makes the whole room happy...and want to dance, and we do.

Only those that have never attempted to play an accordion would ever make fun of one. It is a fabulously difficult instrument to master. Probably one of the most full and complete sounding stand alone instruments.
