I have an infestation in the neighborhood. They nest underground. From what I've read they are difficult to get rid of.

The cheapest way is to swat them with a tennis racket to kill them since it's difficult to get to the nest.

I've managed to keep them to a minimum and somewhat under control but i wish i could say the same for the neighbors.

They only come out at during the month of july. The males don't have stingers and they protect the hive entrances. The females go out and hunt for cicadas.

I've caught them coming back with cicadas.

If you don't know what a cicada is, it's the bug that makes the che che che che sound during the summer. It lives in the trees.

Do you have cicadas every summer? Around TN they only pop up periodically and they call them 7-year or 17-year cicadas.

Had that problem a few years back. Me and a neighbor came out with a couple of brooms and swatted the ones we saw. Afterwards I poured a lighter fluid/vaseline mixture down into their nest (they had dug in under a large crack in the concrete between the two houses) and lit any survivors up. Napalm baby!!! Cemented over the crack...problem solved.
