I thought I have seen everything but I haven't. I just received an email for a proposed settlement from a firm that sued Electronic Arts Madden Football. The suit contends that Madden Football is a monopoly because of their contracts with the different football leagues that restricted other developers from making games and allowing Electronic Arts to charge higher prices for Madden Football. This has nothing to due with the consumer but everything to do with the law firm so they can create a sham suit to create profit for themselves. You end up with a five dollar coupon and the law firm partner gets a new Lexus 460 and gets to take his trophy girlfriend to the Four Seasons Presidential Suite and fuck her brains out.

If people knew how much illegitimate legal BS costs them in terms of prices, unemployment, and taxes, they'd riot. But they don't, so they won't.

Isn't that an old lawsuit? I remember something similar a few years ago.

lol the Madden franchise and NFL are both monopolies protected by powerful politicians. They get away with their bullshit because the NFL is a political hot potato and too popular to ever face real world consequences another corporation of equal size would. No politician of either party wants to face certain defeat and take them on.

    American Football league
    United Football League
    America Football Association
    Canadian Football
    NCAA football
    World Football League
    United States Football League

There are and have been attempts at plenty of competitive leagues. Just because someone does it better than everyone else and people choose to watch it rather than the others does not make it a monopoly. There are also substitutes like soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. Not even close to being a monopoly.

How about we leave video games and football to the free market and let our politicians get around to real problems? We have about 16 Trillion more important things to deal with right now.
