a story about some companies in Utah that started renting and selling edited versions of R and PG movies..

they went up against the directors guild of america a few times to try and stay in business..

but like all great documentaries this takes a decidedly sudden detour..

    holy cow ..

highly recommened, will challenge your views on rights of artist, the freedom to choose what we watch and how we view films and challenges the ideals of the mormon church..

    on netflix now

Fuck it then I'm moving to Utah! Just call me Brother Heinous :c

I remember a few years ago when one of the NE Texas TV affiliates would show great movies that had been "sanitized" (sanctified?) on Saturday nights. So you'd see The Breakfast Club, for example, with all the words and phrases that might be even remotely objectionable to a 3yo overdubbed, ALL the scenes involving pot smoking, and any references to sex, all cut out..... Fucking haaaaaaaaaaarrible and neutered any impact the movie had, as well as making big chunks of it not make any sense at all......

I just finished watching it. I couldn't get through the other movie OP recommended, Bully. There was one scene where a teacher was just so horribly managing a bully, I started to get so angry and I just shut the movie off. :jj:

Cleanfix was good though. I don't see why the studios don't make the "sanitized" versions of movies for sale if they're already making them for airplanes and for broadcast television.

Yeah, it sucks and it completely wrecks the movie, but if these shitheads actually want to see the sanitized version and completely delude themselves into thinking that a PG-version of a war movie captures its real essence, uh...go right ahead.

    Idiots. :jj:

the studios are stupid. most of the companies that "cleaned up" movies made you buy a regular copy of it to be able to get the cleaned up version. it's not like they were just copying them and selling them without giving the studios their cut.
