Poll shows Clinton trailing Republicans in every swing state tested

Clinton trails top Republicans in key swing states

A stunning new poll shows trouble brewing for Hillary Clinton in key swing states, with the Democratic presidential front-runner trailing potential Republican rivals in every match-up tested.

The Quinnipiac University poll put Clinton head-to-head against Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in three states: Colorado, Iowa and Virginia.

In every hypothetical contest, the former secretary of state was either clearly trailing or, as Quinnipiac phrased it, "on the wrong side of a too-close-to-call" race. A majority of voters in all three states also said they found Clinton not honest and trustworthy.

The gap between Clinton and GOP candidates was most pronounced in Colorado and Iowa. She trailed Rubio by 8 points in Colorado, 38-46 percent; and Walker by 9 points, 38-47 percent. She trailed Bush by 6 points in Iowa, 36-42 percent; and Rubio by 8 points, 36-44 percent.

The survey raises troubling questions for the campaign, which has struggled to shed the image of a candidate who is closed off to the media and the public, despite her decisive lead over the Democratic field. The latest results reflect a drop from a similar poll in April.

"She has lost ground in the horserace," Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.

In another troubling sign for the Democratic candidate, voters gave her poor marks on being trustworthy. In Colorado, for instance, voters said 62-34 percent she is not honest and trustworthy.

Clinton wasn't the only one taking a hit in the latest poll. Though Donald Trump has narrowly led the GOP presidential field in some recent polls, the Quinnipiac survey showed voters, by roughly 2-1, had a negative view of the billionaire real estate magnate. Brown said that means his "growth potential" is lower than that of his GOP rivals.

The polls were taken July 9-20, of 1,231 Colorado voters; 1,236 Iowa voters; and 1,209 Virginia voters. Each had a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.

She's so charming, honest and friendly. I can't imagine what the problem is.

Hillary turns off her own base, she's extremely unlikable, and she'd plagued with scandal. She's like a hybrid of Mitt Romney and Richard Nixon

Fuck that bitch but how can you be on the "wrong side" of something too close to call?

I'm sure its just because shes been laying low and letting the Rep clown car eat itself from within. Once she opens the war chest and is running ads, on TV and in the news again the numbers will go back up. When people are polled anyone who really has no opinion just throws out the last name they saw or heard from.

If trump can keep his momentum for 16 months, this is going to be soooooo much fun

Reminds me of my senior year, we had the class elections. The 3 candidates, stereotypical

    1. Wholesome , attractive enough but not hot (think Bailey from WKRP), never made a 'B' in her life clarinet player and member of many clubs

    2. Uber-nerd, belonged to many of the same clubs as candidate 1, parents didn't take him to a dermatologist, Eagle Scout, and taking college courses in high school

    3. An 8 syllabled last name Indian who forgot more in a day than I ever learned about math and science

We decided to write in vote one of our friends under the slogan 'a man who ain't afraid to scratch where it itches'

He won, other three candidates in tears and raging mad

I can only dream Trump does the same thing

    Soooooooo much fun

Hillary's voice makes my skin crawl. Every single time I hear a clip from one of her speeches she sounds like my mom when i was growing up whenever she decided to be a total bitch and ruin my day because she was miserable for whatever reason.

Regardless of which side of the aisle you lean, there's no denying she is a horrible campaigner. As much as I despise Obama, I give him props on being able to portray himself as a regular guy. Someone you'd like to hang out with and have a beer. Bill Clinton had that same ability to connect with the common man. Every time Hilary attempt to do that she comes off as what she really is, a filthy rich phony.

The scariest being Julian Castro, secretary of HUD.

That being said, I think Hillary will only win if Jeb is the Republican nominee.

Hillary could lose points with her base simply due to her deeply held belief that "marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman".

I respect her, though, for standing firmly behind her beliefs and having the courage of her convictions.

Bullshit indeed. Trump leads the polls yet those other candidates are the only choices. The presidential tace hasn't even gotten under way. Right now Republicans are making all the headlines as the Dems have been rather quiet.

Funny she will run the country but has no idea how to pump gas.
