A lab has matched DNA recovered from the body of Mary Sullivan almost 50 years ago with that of her suspected killer, confessed Boston Strangler Albert DeSalvo. DeSalvo was stabbed to death in 1973 while serving a life sentence for unrelated rapes. What is really news about this is that some asshole agency continued to spend tax dollars working for 50 years to identify and prove that DeSalvo committed the crime. What ROI is there on this? The victim is long dead; the killer is long dead; the victim's family and friends have to suffer re-opened emotional wounds, and we paid for this. If you want to stop government waste, start with this. If someone wants to waste vast amounts of public money for 50 years, contribute to Jerry Lewis' Telethon. Although remote, at least someone some day might actually benefit from the Telethon.
