And we all say goodbye to any hope of net neutrality.

    One company or two?

Does Matt Lauer get a $25M merger bonus?

    Will he sue?

This will be an awesome deal Robin. It's not really a monopoly because people have TV and stuff. This isn't designed to fuck over the consumer. It's going to really make it better just like the XM/Sirius deal. Look at what happened after that merger. This show was able to evolve into what you see right now.

I just read today that ComCast is limiting bandwidth (intentionally slowing down speed of access) to Netflix. What they are trying to do I would imagine is shake down Netflix to pay them more money. If Netflix pays them more money....no more charging $8 per monthly subscription as the cost will be filtered down to the end user.

That is the future of the internet. Some sites will be faster than others (instead of now where all sites load based on your type of connection). Y'know the only reason the internet is largely free is because all the big companies thought it was a fad some 20 years ago. I too thought only nerds used computers as a kid and only when women started using net-services did many start to see its wide-appeal. Regulation has lagged simply because the internet is faster than laws can be made.

So enjoy it while it lasts!

Weird, Time Warner bought my local Comcast about 6 years ago and it was absolutely shit. Comcrast was fucking great and TW was problematic from day 1.

I don't know what to make of this.

Data providers are competing with a lot of different services, Robin. Like, instead of watching Netflix, you might just play Jenga with the family or pick lint out of your foreskin.

Think about it, only Comcast-owned sites will load at your usual speed...downloads (even legal ones), Netflix, Youtube, sex chats, xbox - EVERYTHING else will be throttled. ATT filed a patent this week to help them throttle your speed better - and they claim to support net neutrality.

Maybe some good will come it. Humans are just higher primates at the end of the day so more time spent in our communities away from the entertainment centers of our houses is a good thing. Except for less access to porn, which I have been thinking will come to some type of reduction. So download your favorite girls to your own hard drive. Regulation + Cloud storage will eliminate them on a whim.

Fuck it...I'll pay the extra money just so I'll never have to see Bill Cowher ever, ever again.
