Wifi sucks on Comcast, thinking of switching to Fios. Thoughts?

have both ( 2 different houses): Fios has never been down ever in 8 years. Wifi always works. Its cheaper. Other house on has Comcast Service. WiFi sucks 25% of the time. TV I pay more for alot less channels . It sucks. But its the only option for sevice in that area. So If you can get Fios Get it.

Wifi has nothing to do with the ISP. Try buying your own router or access point to do wifi

quick advice... call your isp and ask them what download speed you are paying for..

and then do a test... a simple reset may be all you need

Fios for sure. If I could get it, that would be my choice. Comcast sucks so bad they changed the name in order to confuse the public.

Fios runs fiber to the home. That's a big key to why I like it. It's also very expensive to do so that's probably why it isn't spreading across the country.

If where you live in not wired with fiber optics I don't think you can use FIOS high speed so you will have to stick to Comcast. I never had any problems with Comcast Wifi, in fact I downgraded to the slowest 3 mbps and my wifi works fine.

FIOS is absolutely fantastic. In eight years, the service has been dark twice, for a total of four hours.

The installations guys are some of the nicest humans you'll ever meet.

The only downside is that over the last two years, the price has been creeping up. Of course it's a great deal for newbies, but play HARDBALL with them and never take the first or second offer. Just constantly cry poverty and eventually they'll offer you a kick ass deal. Don't be afraid to cry poor.

I had Comcast before Verizon, and IMO there's no comparison.

Oh, they have a new giant storage DVR available. The base one isn't that hot, so make sure you get one with plenty of capacity.

And I know I'm paying too much, because Verizon just gave me six months of all of the HBO channels for free.

I'm recording tons of movies and watching them when I have time. Free is a good price.

I pay 80 bucks a month for 50 Mb downloads through Comcast. Soon a local company is going to drop in fiber optic lines. 100 mb downloads for 40 bucks a month.

Goodbye Comcast. And don't forget to go fuck yourselves.

All TV and internet providers suck.

It's just a matter of degree.

I had ATT Uverse, they were bought by Frontier Communications in CT. It's horrible. TV goes off about every day and the wifi is like using a 14.4 dial up.

Oh yeah, and Frontier gives you a 8 hour window for a service appointment. Like "They'l l be there between 8 and 4"

Until it's treated like a public utility there's no chance any of them will improve

Have Comcast/Xfinity whatever they want to call it and filled with complaints, WIFI sucks half the time due to a shitty router. That when I unplug and reset it works. That seems to happen at least once a month. I have a cable box that loves to freeze when surfing thru menus. That happens at least 2-3 times a month.

I plan on changing sometime within the next couple months. Stupid easy problems but pretty annoying and not needed.

What type of router do you recommend? I have Centurylink DSL in Colorado, and the WiFi sucks a bag of assholes.

I am using a Linksys EA6700 but I didn't choose it as I got it for free when I worked there years ago. I've heard people have had luck with Asus brand routers. I would google "Best wireless routers 2015" and read the reviews.
