I almost want Trump to win so the anti Obama crowd can finally realize that it is a complicated world with very complex issues and one person or one party or one term is not going to solve it. Arab Spring didn't fix anything, ISIS isn't, Brexit won't, lone wolfes won't, BLM won't either. Lots of frustrated people looking for answers anywhere they can find them only to be disappointed. And you guessed it Hillary won't do much either. I am not sure what the answer is, perhaps there isn't one and we just have to ride it out as they did I years past. What say you Shedders?

I'm voting for Rutherford B. Hayes, or maybe Gabby Hayes. I'm not sure yet.

It sounds like when something happens that you didn't want to happen you're saying it is because of simpletons who think there are easy answers. There are videos full of PhD's, economists, philosophers, etc who are certainly not simple minded who will be glad to give you hour long presentations on why Brexit was the best choice for GB. There are documentary movies on what a mess the EU system is and why the people in the UK were being screwed.

And the current administration CAUSED much of the Arab Spring by refusing to support, arming dissidents, or actively BOMBING some of the benign regimes taken down.

The EU and fishing industry screw-over of GB

Why Switzerland is more prosperous than the EU

I lay the blame squarely on GW Bush. Iraq invasion and nation building for people who can't deal.

You are correct in pointing out that there are many fucked up people with many different fucked up ideologies running around out there looking to do harm to us and our families.

The big difference for me between the two candidates is that with Trump, there's at least a possibility that we will stem the flow of these people coming into our country AND that I will retain the means to protect myself from such threats.

    With Hillary, there is none.

The nation building was a joke, the invasion and deposing of Sadaam during that specific period had some merit in sending a message about supporting terrorism (he paid bounties to suicide bomber families, he talked it up constantly). Leaving immediately after his capture (the entire region) would have had the result of them burning their energies up on themselves. But we doubled down on the mistake.

Ideally we would never have had a single member of the armed forces outside of the USA, but globalists need their trade routes protected.

Mostly people just need to stop freaking out that the problems of today are somehow unique or worse than the rest of recorded time. It's actually awesome right now from a historical perspective. We have tons of problems and always will but the curve of civilization is bending up. Isis? Please, when I was a kid we lived under the threat of nuclear annihilation! Jobs? Let me introduce you to the depression. Zika virus meet black plague. Wait, forget black deatg, until a century ago meet diarrhea, killer of millions. Fear of immigrants? Say hello to the Mongol hordes. Race relations? Anyone ever hear of the inquisition or the English/Irish thing?

The only difference is that we have mass media today that hypes fear in an unprecedented way. People need to grow up, educate themselves on the difference between real risk and emotional fears and forget the idea that they will ever be totally safe. As a famous mad said the only thing to fear is fear itself. If we can stop freaking out and looking for magic fixes we could make progress on topics that are locked up right now. The middle east will solve itself once we get off oil and that technology is getting better every day. When we don't need Middle East oil it becomes Africa, a disaster zone nobody cares about.
