My laptop is in for warranty repair so I am stuck on my desktop. It isn't that old either but it is driving me crazy. There is a terrible lag time between the time I type and the time it shows up on the screen. It is literally driving me crazy. It does this on all applications. I'm on FF right now and it is doing it and it did it in MS Word 2007 just a minute ago. To give you an idea of how slow it is, I typed "Hello, is it me you're looking for," before anything showed up on the screen. I'm a fairly fast typer but that is still terrible. Rebooting does not help. My question. What would be my best bet for trying a fix? Here are my machine specs: Core 2 quad Q6600, 2.4 GHz. 8M Cache 3G PC2-5300 Memory Vista 32 bit NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS with 256M DDR on board I realize that this is a couple generations behind. I don't use it that much but I ought to be able to type on it. My Windows Experience scores 2.0 on the graphics and 3.0 on gaming graphics I've already shut off all of the graphics intense bells and whistles on Vista which had no effect I'm thinking that more memory could help. That would require me updating to Win 7 64 bit first and I kinda don't want to do that since Win 8 is coming out so soon. I'm also thinking that a graphics card with more on board memory could help. I'm not a gamer so I could still live with a pretty humble card. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really be happy if I could just type on it. If you can't think of anything else, which of the two above are most likely, in your opinion, to help? I just had another thought. I'm going to mess around with my existing memory to see if I have a bad DDR module too. Any suggestions would be appreciated and, no, I'm not going to get a MAC. I should be able to type on any decent PC.
