Cops: Video shows fathers fighting at school following road rage incident

    A Moncks Corner man was arrested after police say he was caught on video punching a man several times in the face at a middle school parking lot following a road rage incident.

    The Moncks Corner Police Department charged 48-year-old Marty Wayne Richberg on Wednesday with disorderly conduct.

    On Tuesday afternoon, a police officer responded to the parking lot of Berkeley Middle School in reference to an assault.

    The 43-year-old victim said the whole thing started when he had an incident with Richberg on Highway 52 near the school. According to Richberg, the victim had cut him off on the road.

    Lt. Michael Roach with the MCPD says the men then exchanged "unpleasantries as in gestures" and cursed at each other. According to Roach, both men were heading to the school to pick up their kids, and did not know each other.

    Authorities say when the victim pulled up to the middle school parking lot, Richberg pulled up behind him in his truck, walked up to his car, came up to the window and punched the victim several times in the face.

    "The driver of the truck pulls up behind him and he confronts this guy and blows are exchanged and it really gets out of hand really quickly," Roach said.

    A police report states when a witness came to the victim's aid, Richberg got back into his truck and left. The witness said when he walked over to Richberg and asked him why he attacked the victim, Richberg did not respond.

    "It's something that went from one bad situation and escalating into something that could've really been tragic," Roach said. "I think if they were going somewhere different we wouldn't have what it escalated into."

    Moncks Corner PD officials say Richberg contacted police Wednesday morning and told authorities about the incident at the school.

    According to police, Richberg volunteered to come to the police department and answer questions. Richberg said he pulled in behind the victim's vehicle at the school parking lot and an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.

    Richberg told police he tried to keep the victim from exiting his car in order to avoid a fight, and Richberg said that's when the victim struck him in the face, and both began to exchange blows.

    Investigators arrested Richberg and charged him with disorderly conduct.

    I was driving and saw a car and 18 wheeler get into a beef in my rear view mirror, I was at a red light and the truck driver got out of his rig and started after the guy. People are crazy.

    Saw a guy trying to fight a skinny scared kid on the highway while traffic slowed to a halt. I stopped my car and told him he's fucking stupid for fighting near moving cars and the kid is backing up. He won so just leave. As he approached my car 3 bikers stopped and asked what's up. So I told them he wanted to beat up this scared kid and now wanted to get into it with me but I'm not stupid enough to get into a fight near fucking moving cars on a highway.

    The guy turns white as a ghost as the bikers get off their bikes and approach him and just takes off in a dead sprint up the shoulder on the highway. Keys in the engine and all

    In New South Wales, Australia, road rage is considered an extremely serious act. Any person who chases another motorist or shows intimidating and/or bullying towards another road user can be charged with predatory driving, a serious offence that can leave the culprit in jail for up to 5 years. Offenders can also be fined A$100,000 and disqualified from driving, regardless of whether or not he or she intended to harm the victim physically. If the predatory driving results in a physical assault or harm, and/or the victim's car was intentionally damaged, penalties can be much more severe. :grad:

    Yea I wikipedia'd road rage, we're fucked as usual in statistics but Australia made me brain expand:sun:

    in 2009, New York, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Atlanta and Minneapolis/St. Paul were rated the top five "Road Rage Capitals" of the United States.[15]
