I liked it for an intro type episode. I'm hoping it gets deeper into the shit I don't understand as it progresses.

yeah I think they played up the spaceship thing a bit too much but I do like how they did the universe as a calendar year. that shit always trips me out. and the animated shit was good too. its so funny that the bulk of americans still believe in the creation and that the earth is like 6000 years old or some shit? lol

When I saw Seth MacFarlane's name I did not have high hopes, I will be honest. I think it's okay so far. I liked the more ambient music from the Carl Sagan version better, though, I think.

I'm hoping they make the episode where Sagan tried to explain traveling at light speed a little easier for dopes to understand. I had no clue what he was talking about. I think he said you would see certain colors before you would see others because you were traveling so fast.

I liked the arrow hitting a wall, climb the wall shoot another arrow explanation. simple and mind blowing for that time. me and my brother loved watching the carl sagan cosmos. it was mandatory to plug your nose and say "billions and billions of stars"

That color shift thing is pretty cool. I think it was Hubble that proved the universe was expanding by color shift (shifted red I believe). Neat-o. I loved reading Stephen Hawking's books.....'twas almost like I could understand some of this stuff when the smart folks dumb it down substantially.

I was in the math class that made solar hot dog cookers :bigcry: It was made using parabolas, I think, but you know the teacher knew we were never going to amount to anything.

Stephen Hawking's "Universe in a Nutshell" does a great job of explaining the Doppler color shift, how gravity works, time as a dimension and that sorta voodoo. Great read (lotsa pics too)!

yeah it takes a special type of person to explain quantum physics and string theory to this psychedelic knuckle head from the northwest. but when it comes thru and makes sense my mind wont shut off with possibility. I have always loved space and science as a kid up to now. It always amazes me when people are like yeah yeah whatever fuck NASA etc. my mom was like that.

MacFarlane has used Neil Tyson as a reference for some prior Family Guy episodes. Whenever they did time machine or space stuff he would consult Tyson with questions. Tyson has some credits on some episodes.
