Turns out he was arrested for drunk in public. Riding his bike home from a party. Charges are:

    Drunk in public
    Drunk under legal age

He is 19, they held him for 30+ hrs. Seems fishy. I thought they let you out when you sobered up. Campus cops. Tried looking the shit up online but the website is updated weekly.

I think you can actually get a DUI for riding a bike drunk.

    This is true.

Thank god he didn't get that.

Realistically, he didn't do anything most kids his age don't do... so don't be too hard on him. But don't cover his ass... let the law carry out its "justice" and teach him the lesson. Because there is a lesson to be learned. Let him pay his own fines, etc. But be there for him when he needs you, perhaps for rides or whatever... and don't give him any punishment on top of what the state will. When you break the law, whether it's stupid or not, you pay the price. He needs to learn that. So be his support/his friend, but don't interfere with the "justice system" or pay his way through it. You be the "good guy", and let the system be the "bad guy".

..That's what my dad did with me. And I learned to NEVER run afoul of the law again; but at the same time I knew I had my parents' support, because everybody makes mistakes.

I was about to tease you for being so OLD as to have a 19 year old.........until I remembered my daughter will be 22 this year.

19 is legal drinking age in Canada, fyi.

Perhaps it's different for you guys - but here, it has to be motorized. You can get a dui for driving a ride-on lawnmower........but not a bicycle.

You can get a DUI here for just sitting on the driver's side in a parking lot without the car turned on.

    Not this, you dummy.

Same here. It's a slightly different charge, with the same results. "Care and Control".

A buddy of mine got into a fight with his wife, and just to get away from her crazy ass.........went to his driveway, put the keys in the ignition and listened to music. (likely while still having a beer) He had no intentions of going anywhere.

His wife called the cops, they pulled into HIS driveway, where he was sitting with the keys in the car listening to music...........and he was charged with DUI.

You'd think the verb driving would mean something in a charge that involves driving to our jew overlords. :fil:
