Double feature on MGM HD tonight!

I can't WAIT! I used to LOVE this movie as a kid! Dr. Phibes, unlike Howard, knew how to pick 'em!

Virginia North as Vulnavia was SMOKIN'! :hump:

I guess she died a few years ago. What a shame. :rip2:

Her replacement in Dr. Phibes Rises Again, Valli Kemp, was no slouch either:

    This is Stern related thusly:

Howard is a walking corpse just like Dr. Phibes.

I wish Joe Bob Briggs were still on TV. Just not the same without the Drive In Totals...

I *****LOVE***** Dr. Phibes!!! I have a DVD player in my kitchen and watch it just about every night, which freaks my kids out. It's BRILLIANTLY directed -- a real honest to God weird story, bizarre murders based on the Curse of the Pharoahs -- incredible stuff!!! TRULY entertaining, Vincent Price at his absolute best!!!

I think Vincent Price was at a career low, with no money, and decided to take Dr. Phibes. Turned out to be a huge hit and classic...even had Joseph Cotton (?), another big time old star.

    Yeah she was.

The first Phibes is a legit masterpiece. I haven't seen them in a while, but I remember the sequel being a little more goofy. Either way, it's hard to beat Vincent Price when it comes to old school horror.

Well, I've got good news, and bad news...

    First, the good news.

Fiona Lewis played Diana in Dr. Phibes Rises Again

Here's an even more revealing photo (looks like she was in Playboy in '67)

    Now the bad news,

The Abominable Dr. Phibes is being remade by Tim Burton and will star Johnny Depp in Vincent Price's role as Dr. Anton Phibes

Some of the comments are pretty funny (most are anti-remake)...

Agreed. Honestly, the ONLY Tim Burton movies that were decent were NOT remakes:

    Beetlejuice
    Ed Wood
    Mars Attacks!
    (was OK)

    That's it.

He absolutely MASSACRED some well liked movies and TV-shows-turned-in-to-movies with his remakes:

Willy Wonka (Charlie) and the Chocolate Factory
    Planet of the Apes
    Dark Shadows
(I didn't like the original TV show and didn't care to see the movie, but reviews were universally terrible!)

That Batman movie he did was awful too!
