im taking mike trout because he is the total package at the age of 20.

im sure some of you are gonna say bryce harper and thats a wonderful choice, but im looking long term and i feel harper might be prone to injury since he plays so reckless.

    others to consider:

    aroldis chapman RP Reds
    steven strassberg SP Nationals
    matt kemp OF Dodgers
    josh hamilton OF Rangers
    justin verlander SP Tigers

i watched him pitch twice this year and he's overpowering at times

solid pick to lead your rotation

I like Trout, but I am taking Robinson Cano first.

he hits, runs and plays solid field and more importantly he has veteran presence. I would not pick Trout first solely that he is too young to be the most important factor. Maybe Andrew McCutchen.

My team, keeping payroll in mind

    C-Weiters
    1- Pena
    2- Cano
S- Ryan (I would take Jeter if he had more than a year or two left)
    3- Longoria
    O- Trout
    O- Gardner
    O- Granderson/Hamilton
    p- Strassberg
    p- Price
    p- Nova
    r- Robertson
    r- Chapman
    c- Kimbrel

Why would you start your team with a person from a non critical defensive position. If you are picking an everyday player it should be SS, CF or C. I would choose a pitcher because the impact of a top pitcher versus a good pitcher exceeds the difference between the impact of a top fielder versus a good fielder.

LH as well. I remember the first time I saw him pitch he had Mauer looking confused. The only concern is durability.

Duh, obvious answer is Bryce Harper. Way to include the obvious answer in your list of choices.

I think the Reds are about to demote that pitcher to Double A.
