DALLAS -- The game between Dallas and the Columbus Blue Jackets was postponed by the NHL on Monday night after Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench during the first period. Peverley, 31, had missed last Tuesday's game against Columbus for an irregular heartbeat

Carried off after being treated for a "heart event". Scary, you never really see that happen or a game cancelled. I remember in 2008 when top player Alexie Cherepanov collapsed and died of a heart attack on the bench, in the Russian KHL league. He was suppose to be coming over to the NY Rangers after being drafter by them in the first round.

Was he a big goal scorer ? Might help my teams chances in the playoffs.

Not really. Solid player but he hasn't put up the numbers in the last couple years they thought he would've. Solid neutral zone player though. Creates good movement into the opposing zone.

    Hope he's OK.

They had to defribillate him on the bench. No way were they going to carry on a game after that. Not only that, but no one wants to play after seeing that go on with a fellow player. As check1 said, scary stuff.

if he was a real hockey player he'd get fixed up and get back in there.

"Ok guys, show us what you've got."

Ha great movie. No other tougher athletes than hockey players. Unfortunately, sometimes as you know, you just can't get back in there. Love these guys. Hope everything works out for Rich, tonight.

Apparently he asked how much time was left in the period and asked to get back into the game.

No joke, it just happens like that in so many sports. The heart just gives out, and there's no way a doctor can tell you beforehand.

Peverly did pull out of a game week ago with an irregular heartbeat. But a lot of athletes in the world have an irregular heartbeat. Just has to be monitored.
