so, i adopted a 6 year cavalier king charles about 2-3 months ago & holy hell! besides him being one of the COOLEST dogs i've ever had, he sheds like a motherfucker! i brush him at least 3 times a week too.
any of you folks tried one of those hepa air purifiers that are rated for pet dander & do they help with the hair situation?
anyone have one? do they work or is it a waste of money?

    here's my buddy, charlie bucket...

My dog sheds like crazy too. Nothing helps. Baths, brushing the hell outta him. Still hair everywhere, every day. I actually have a shopvac that I bought just for inside the house that picks up some. But I'm usually down on my hands and knees wiping the floor with a damp cloth though - and everything else, with tape and lint rollers. It sucks. Cute doggie.

    Cute dog! :woah:

Best investment we ever made was getting a Roomba to keep up with all the dog hair on the hard wood floors. It runs every morning and the floors look awesome when I get home. Worth every penny. Bed Bath and Beyond lets you use their 20% off coupons for them.

Don't get the cheapest version, get the middle of the Roomba pack. The better versions really get all the hair up better. Huge difference.

We use really good air filters in our a/c system... other than that, the hair comes with the awesome dog. Part of dog life... enjoy.

LOL, those little guys are known for their shedding prowess. They are great dogs, though.

i'm guessing like a central air type thing? have you used those self contained purifier things though? those are what i'm wondering about. so many varying reviews on amazon & other marketplaces...

oh, he's a pisser. he literally doesn't leave my side when i'm home, he watches fucking tv, loves sitting in front of the subwoofer when i play bass heavy music, and if a joint is lit up, forget about it. he jumps up into your lap and just basks in the smoke. never had a dog like this before.

The lazy eye kind of makes him look like Katie Holmes.

Nah, I'm kidding, that dog is actually cute as hell.

He's adorable. Make sure you give him a good oil in his food. Trader Joes flax seed oil is good. Congratulations and thank you for adopting.

british hunting/bird dog...the little bastard is strong as hell too. he's only about 25 lbs but when he's leashed he can drag you where he wants to go when he gets excited. he's like a little tank.

He's so adorable I'd let him shed wherever he wanted and just invest heavily in lint brushes.

Also, your family drinks a lot of Gatorade. Now I'm thirsty.

What a beautiful dog you have! Guy could not be any cuter.

Shedding is always an issue, but one I've accepted as part of the joy of having two dogs running around here.

This has worked great for us:

P.S. You adopted an older dog--AWESOME. Bless your heart!

that's the bummer, his life expectancy is at the most 12-14...whatever. he's really turned into my best friend. he's 6 now, hopefully he'll hit that 14 yr old point at least.

Four dogs, all sorts of air cleaners around the house, 3 hepa on all the time , 2 ozone types that run sometimes. Dogs get baths every 1-2 weeks. Dander making breeds leave it everywhere, cleaner ones don't. Shedders shed, etc. So far I know never to get another Beagle or even any sort of hound. And Boston Terriers are pretty fucking clean and don't smell. Easy to wash, too.

I suppose they help, but it's a constant process to keep it smelling clean. I vac about 3x a week and there are still hair tumbleweeds in corners sometimes. Try running a 3M filtrete in the central HVAC system, it might get more of it out of the air, but it's going to settle everywhere. If you live where it's hot skip the 3m, your system may not be able to handle the reduced air flow.

I have to leave this page now or my wife will want one like yours.
