Letterman is getting awfully long in the tooth. He's 66 and re-signed to work till he's 68. Stern isn't yet 60.

I think Stern is going to ultimately re-sign with Sirius for a 3 year deal where he can do the show from the Florida home.

Letterman still does a good job in his interview segments. He's still pretty enthusiastic about even the lamer stuff and not out of touch at all.

But Letterman extended his contract so he'll see how he'll fare vs. Jimmy and Jimmy.

Remember, he beat Conan's Tonight Show.

Then Letterman could go out as the King of Late Night.

The author of The Late Shift said that Letterman saw Johnny Carson a few years after he retired, and he looked like a shell of himself. And that Letterman is scared that if he retires, he'll become a shell of himself, too.

I don't know why they force any of these Late Night hosts into retirement. Regis Philbin is still working in his eighties. Did Dave and Jay forget how to be funny. I always envision the viewers at home to be in the 45-60 age range. How is Jimmy Fallon relevant to a couple in their late forties.

I don't really watch Letterman anymore......................although I will tonight........................but I find this comforting. When he goes it will feel like the end of something.

Honestly, it will feel like the end of American broadcasting itself. He's a master craftsman with an old-school respect for his craft.

And he's definitely earned what he learned.

Check out Furious Baldwin's podcast "Here's the Thing" with Dave. Baldwin's a total douchebag-phony in it, and he offers up a really, really cringey intro to the proceedings, but it doesn't matter: Dave's great; walking us through his early days, putting things in perspective now, stories and anecdotes................the full english.

He's also dead-$$$ in his episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee". He runs circles around Jerry, who's in "awestruck-puppy" mode and rightfully so, without even breaking a sweat.
The great CB for the Seattle Seahawks.......................who will be hoisting the Lombardi next February!!!........................said, after destroying the 49ers on national television, that there are levels to the game, and they're on another level.

    And so is Dave.

He even lent Jerry the wheels.

Since they're retiring around the same time will Team Howard throw out rumors to the media that Howard will replace Letterman?

Fact is, Ruper Murdoch wanted Howie to be late night king of FOX, but Stern declined.

    Here's a treat:

NPR's Terry Gross of Fresh Air fame recently posted her interview of Letterman in 1981, 1 year before he started in Late Night.

She starts intro-ing it at the 27:00 mark.

Two classy guys that have handled themselves well (except for Dave's intern thing of course).

Yeah, need to put an * there for Dave.

Also, for all his philandering Dave doesn't have good taste in women, from wife to side-bangs.

    "frump" am his kryptonite. :grad:

If you're gonna cheat, cheat with glass dildo Super Girl!

Conan and his wife make a nice pair, though; they seem like your average decent-human-beings, dull-as-fuck, white-bread couple.

Why wouldn't CBS hire Conan as Dave's Replacement?

His Contract Ends in 2015 as well.

They Now Have Contracts that end at the SAME TIME. :coffee:
