Jay Leno's last episode as host of “The Tonight Show” (we think) has scored the program’s most-watched episode in more than 15 years.

Nielsen said “Tonight” drew a big 14.64 million viewers overall, the fourth biggest ever for the show. The only shows to rate higher were May 20, 1993 (“Cheers” finale, 22.4 million), May 25, 1992 (Leno’s debut, 16.1 million), May 14, 1998 (“Seinfeld” finale, 15.0 million) and Feb. 6, 2014 (Leno’s final telecast, 14.6 million).

leno & letterman never had the animosity towards each other that some wanted you to believe for whatever reason. it was a dumb portrayal by idiots & these two have always pointed that out when asked.

Time has softened the wounds, it would seem. Letterman has since admitted that it's better the way things turned out.

A few years back, Dave said something like, "Jay Leno is the funniest man I have ever known and the most insecure."

I think there's still some respect for Jay in Dave. Jay fucked him over, but in the end, he was the better man for the job.

Dave also realizes that he's not exactly the most nice guy in show business either

I remember looking forward to every time that Jay was on Letterman. He was great in his day. He's lost some respect over the late-night wars and Howard has done his part to skew public opinion. I think he'll be back on Letterman as a regular guest.

That was one of Howard's worst appearances on Dave. Even though the present-day HSS sucks, Howard's Late Show appearances had been consistently decent (until now). The way he'd jump to his feet to mug the audience for applause or how he'd take a pregnant pause after believing he'd made some brilliant point hoping for the audience's approval and the slow dance he did with Dave at the end. It all reeked.

Howard beat down Jay for years...here's reality. Jay with the same wife (no trophy bimbo), Jay with ridiculous success on network tv, Jay with respect from everyone, Jay taking care of his people during strikes (unlike Howard who can't even invite his fired Howard TV people to his birthday party). Advantage Jay, who will be remembered as a success and not a cretin like Stern.

I really feel bad for letting Wiggie influence me to hate on Leno. It is clear he didn't steal the job back from Leno as much as those money-hungry Jew executives begged him to go back. And since Leno doesn't fight back he got treated like a punching bag by Conan, JimmyK, etc.
