Good old Dave does right by his pal Robin Williams.

This is something the wig would never do for his friends.

"Everyone knows how I felt about him, right Robin?"

Very touching. I actually saw that ep of Mork and Mindy during the marathon. I didn't know Dave Letterman was on it. Wiggy could never tell such a poignant story about his history with someone because he rewrites his past constantly. Nice job, Dave. Classy. Genuine.

I don't get Dave's post-NBC humor at all but that doesn't detract from his compassion and empathy. He spent a full week in honor of his good bud Warren Zevon also.

"Dave did a horrible job, Robin. He didn't mention how I am a better guest."

But, did Dave think about sending Robin a note just before he died?

Thanks for posting.....that was a good, heart-felt tribute. Whole thing is just so damned sad.

Robin Williams is gone, but AGT lives on. No justice at all, there.....

Dave's a class act! Wiggy could never be that self-deprecating and selfless towards someone.

Did he have Jay Thomas on to say a few nice words about how he smelled, stole jokes, didn't pay for cab rides he shared, and was strange?

Pretty sure who's supposed to do that? Paul? I'm sure he is but that's annoying.

I think I'd have a panic attack if the doctor two seconds before surgery, pulled off his mask and it was patch Adams raving about how his cat drove him to work because he was still hung over.

I always liked Letterman...he shows genuine emotion here in this tribute, just as he did for his friend Warren Zevon.
    good stuff.

The Wig is perfectly capable of giving heartfelt tributes to loved ones as well, as seen here when he and Robin sound like they couldn't give less of a shit when Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf died:

Very nice tribute..thanks for posting. I don't watch Dave, so it was nice to see that.

I like how Dave talked about their old days at the comedy store with other real comedians....Stern was, and never will be a comedian. He couldn't do 5 minutes of stand-up if he needed to, so to even put him in a conversation and consider him a comedian is a joke.

Dave talked about how ratings would increase when Robin Williams went on his show....too bad he can't say that about Stern..Stern has brought Dave's ratings down everytime he has been on, and Jay Leno repeats beat Stern on Dave a few years ago.

Dave spoke well of Robin Williams going on his show and completely taking it over with his comedy. Too bad he can't say that about Howie...Howie goes on these shows and he is a one trick pony...insults the band, does impressions of his parents, does his crucifix pose, and he is out.

From what I can recall, I do not think Robin Williams ever made an appearance on the HSS....i guess Gary was "busy" booking Joan Rivers to have Williams on. Very nice tribute again by Dave...unlike Howie, Dave didn't make it "all about him" with his "lies" about Beth coming downstairs and telling him at the same time Robin Williams was killing himself. That whole story was a pile of bullshit.
