Weather forecast for Daytona today calls for scattered showers....could either shorten or delay the race several times. One of the few NASCAR races worth watching. Basically, it's the two Daytona races and the two Talladega races that are interesting. The rest are just a borefest-- no drama, just the teams with the most money to put into their cars winning every week. With Daytona and Talladega, their's the threat of "the big one" striking, especially in the closing laps as drivers make mad scrambles to gain positions. Today's race will be the first in thirteen years in the Sprint Cup series with the #3 car on the track. Richard Childress has property of the number, and has given it to his grandson, Austin Dillon, who also has the pole for today's race. The #3 was made famous by the late Dale Earnhardt, who was killed on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. Today's winner? I look for a Chevrolet driver to win. This race has never been won by a driver in a Toyota, and while Denny Hamlin has been dominant this week, I don't see his #11 FedEx Toyota breaking through here. I'm going with Dale Earnhardt Jr, who I'm sure has mixed feelings about seeing the #3 car back on the track.
