"I'll take over where you left off little guy- the people are helpless, and need us to run their lives"

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that the city will continue Michael Bloomberg’s fight for a ban on sodas over 16 ounces.

The city will appeal to the state’s highest court in a continuation of the former mayor’s ban. Mr. Bloomberg had ordered the ban through the city Health Department without the city council’s consent, but a state judge in March 2013 blocked the ban and said he had overstepped his authority.
The law would have prohibited city restaurants, delis and other businesses from selling[IMG] sodas and other sugary beverages larger than 16 ounces.
Mr. de Blasio previously said he supported the law in an effort to combat obesity, but hinted he would consider City Council legislation rather than a Health Department edict, the New York Daily News reported.
“I think we could do a much better job of working with parents and working with communities to help[IMG] them understand why this is a good idea and get their buy-in,†the Democratic mayor said in January.
City lawyers will argue the case at the Court of Appeals on June 4, the Daily News reported.

I just think it's wonderful he cured his wife's homosexuality. It's also saintly that he's taking on obesity next.

Obesity IS a serious problem in this country. Financially and as a health issue.
That being said, this large soda ban is beyond ridiculous.
    Screw both of those dipshits

In NYC do they have the new Mayor stand on a podium like in the Olympics while the old Mayor stands 2' down on a lower one?

Guess youre just a fan. Some people aren't:

"The bumps and bruises afflicting his young administration have lowered Mayor Bill de Blasio’s stature among New Yorkers over the past two months, and there is a sharp racial divide in voters’ optimism about the city’s future, according to a poll released on Tuesday.

More than twice as many voters, 34 percent, now disapprove of Mr. de Blasio’s job performance than did in mid-January, when 13 percent disapproved, according to the survey, by Quinnipiac University.
Forty-five percent of respondents approve of the new mayor, down from 53 percent two months ago. Twenty percent of respondents said they did not have an opinion.

Mr. de Blasio has grappled with a series of minor controversies, over snowstorms, horses, charter schools, the driving habits of his police-chauffeured sport utility vehicle, a tough legislative fight with the governor in Albany and a late-night phone call he placed to police officials after a political supporter was arrested." -NYT
