My favorite show of all time. I really hope this happens. Closure is needed.

    From Variety:

Is “Deadwood” about to return from the dead?

A spokesman for HBO confirmed to Variety that “very preliminary discussions” have been made to resurrect the Western series with a movie, though it’s unclear how serious the premium channel is about the pic.

Actor Garret Dillahunt, who played Francis Wilcott on the series that ran from 2004-06, ignited the chatter Wednesday when he tweeted: “So uh….I’m hearing credible rumors about a #Deadwood movie.”

“Come on HBO,” he wrote. “You made the ‘Entourage’ movie. Give the #Deadwood fans some closure.”

Despite the overture, fans of the Emmy-winning drama know not to hop in the saddle just yet.

HBO previously announced two “Deadwood” movies when it officially cancelled the show in 2008, but nothing ever came of them. Creator David Milch was also said to be offered a shorter fourth season of the series but quickly rejected the idea.

Still, Hollywood loves a comeback story and Milch, himself, has hinted at the possibility of a revival.

“I don’t know that the last word has been said on the subject,” he told Esquire in 2011. “I still nourish the hope that we’re going to get to do a little more work in that area.”

“Deadwood,” which starred Ian McShane as merciless saloon owner Al Swearengen, ran for three seasons before abruptly ending its run.

The acclaimed drama also starred Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, and Brad Douriff, and is widely considered to be one of HBO’s best original series alongside “The Wire” and “The Sopranos.”

Let's see - Joanie is the lead in the Walking Dead spinoff, Alma is recurring on House of Cards, Trixie is on Ray Donovan and Al will be on Game of Thrones.

Scheduling might be tricky but I miss the hell out of the show and will keep fingers crossed.

Great news. Next they can do one for Rome which they killed after just two seasons.

Last week I started a marathon re-viewing of this series.
I'm up to the episode 5 of Season 3.
    What a cast!

Damn if the dialogue isn't the best of any series ever.
Like Cormac McCarthy and William Faulkner had a butt baby.

We recently re watched it as well. I had completely forgotten Anna Gunn was in it, plus people I didn't know at the time like Nick Offerman, etc.

I became mildly (majorly) obsessed with Ian McShane because of Deadwood.

So much so I even found this. Which was a mild bummer.

Deadwood is one of the best HBO shows of all time that just had the rug ripped out from under it at a horrible time in the story arc. I just ask that they somehow work a nice ending to Carnivale into the movie too.

I was prompted to re-watch the series after reading the former and deservedly maligned New York Times TV critic Alessandra Stanley's final column and then the Variety item about Garret Dillahunt's "tweet".

I'd forgotten that Dillahunt played two roles in the series: the coward Jack McCall and Gerald McRaney's (as George Hearst) agent & whore murdering maggot Francis Wolcott.

Last episode I watched this afternoon Ian McShane (Al) was chastising Trixie's replacement for continuously giving him bad blow jobs.

This after Brian Cox (Jack Langrishe) had suggested that Al should maybe choose a "later hour" for best effect.
The guys who wrote this were as good as Shakespeare. Possibly better.

Truly in a class by itself... rarely, if ever, has a cast been so perfectly personified.

Cocksuckers will never risk a penny of their own money. So it'll be hard to get it made. Cocksucker!
