Farina, a Illinois native, worked for the Chicago Police Department for 18 years before becoming an actor. He worked on films like "Saving Private Ryan" and "Midnight Run" and was eventually cast to replace Jerry Orbach on the television series "Law & Order." Farina played detective Joe Fontana on the show for two years and then left to pursue other projects. Most recently he appeared on HBO's "Luck" in 2012.
