Dennis Farina, a former police officer who became a star of "Law & Order," died today at the age of 69, his publicist told FOX411.
Farina, a Illinois native, worked for the Chicago Police Department for 18 years before becoming an actor.
He worked on films like "Saving Private Ryan" and "Midnight Run" and was eventually cast to replace Jerry Orbach on the television series "Law & Order."
Farina played detective Joe Fontana on the show for two years and then left to pursue other projects.
Most recently he appeared on HBO's "Luck" in 2012.

It's too bad. The guy was always fun to watch.

I seem to recall him doing some commercial work lately.

Reindeer Games was just on yesterday, too. He was the best part of that POS besides Gary Sinise... And Charlize Theron's tits.
