I just bought a new desktop PC on Friday (HP Pavilion, 8GB DDR3, 1TB hard drive). Went with another desktop because I have the belief that a wired PC is more secure than a wireless laptop. Kind of hard to believe that laptops are as popular as they are. I wouldn't trust making a purchase with a credit card on a laptop, seems like hackers would have an easy time breaking the encryption code.

Do you go with the more popular, trendy laptop, or are you like me, preferring the more secure desktop PC?

Laptop. The keyboard on my MacBook Pro is comfy enough.

i have a desk top but i mostly sit on the lazy boy or couch and use the wireless keyboard and mouse to surf. i haven't sat at the computer desk in months except to play games.

a laptop is ok for travel or going to meetings etc., but unless they have made a larger keyboard and screen, ima stick with the desktop.

they don't have a virtual keyboard yet do they? i'm usually a few years behind in my tech toys.

Desktop. I've been building mine for years. It's fun and they're more powerful for less money.

I quite agree; I use a desktop. I don't believe they're any less susceptible to hacking, however. (Another relief is; no built-in camera for someone to hack....)

Both. I have them networked. The laptop for when i am sitting in front of the TV or out on business. The desktop for editing photos and a few other things that require a better and larger display. I could never live with the built in storage of the laptop. I'd have to have something networked for large storage.

I prefer the laptop because it feels like a warm puppy sleeping in my lap.

Not that there's anything wrong with choosing a desktop over a laptop, but your reasoning is so wrong it's laughable.

On an non-enterprise level there is nothing more secure with a wired connection than a wireless. Your points of vulnerability are exactly the same, your router and your machine, nothing sniffs wifi signals and is able to intercept your credit card info.

But back to the original question: Windows Desktops for work/gaming. Mac laptop for everything else.
