    we are faggots of the highest order :chair:
    @gwartney

    The word from the National Weather Service this morning: “Prepare.”
    That’s the gist of the forecast and the accompanying graphics released this morning by the Fort Worth office, where “we do expect this to be a potentially significant winter-weather episode,” in the words of meteorologist Lamont Bain.

    Significant as in: Some areas in Dallas-Fort Worth could see up to an inch of sleet in the heavier storms expected to roll through as Sunday gives way to Monday. Significant as in: We will first see freezing rain, which can bring down tree limbs and power lines, before it turns to sleet. Significant as in: Highs aren’t expected to climb above freezing Monday, when winds will also gust out of the north at 15-30 mph. Significant as in: Thundersleet!

    [IMG]It will be “very hazardous and very treacherous,” says Bain. “Prepare for a winter storm.”

    The rain approaching now from the west isn’t it. Dallas-Fort Worth will see rain today, but it will remain well above freezing during the day Sunday.

    Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Sunday evening, by which time most of the rain should have stopped. “There’s a low chance of sleet Sunday night,” says NBC DFW meteorologist Remeisha Shade. But as Bain reminds: “Winter weather forecasts like this are fluid.” As we like to remind: “Yes, right until they freeze.”

    “We will have precipitation in the area this evening, and depending on how cool the air gets, we could see some freezing rain,” he says. “That should be closer to midnight. We could see freezing rain and sleet develop during that time. But as the morning wears on, the colder air will filter in and turn to sleet.

    [IMG]“In terms of the transition from freezing rain to sleet, it’s tricking to nail down. We expect it certainly that 7 to 8 a.m. Monday, the cold air will be deep enough that the snow falling melts and refreezes all as sleet. But if we see more storms, those will act to cool to the column much more rapidly and close the window for freezing rain. We still think the main impact will be sleet.”

    How much depends on how big the storms are Monday morning. Some look like they could … significant. That’s today’s buzzword. Tomorrow’s too. Maybe Tuesday’s as well, with Shade forecasting a chance of freezing drizzle Tuesday morning.

    “An inch of sleet is possible, for sure,” says Bain. “People need to start preparing. And hopefully tomorrow morning you don’t have to get up and go to work. We won’t want people on the road. Be prepared to adjust to a very dynamic situation.”

    I hope this doesn't contribute to rising ocean levels from melting polar ice.

    At what point did you convince yourself that you're an authority on politics? repeating shit you hear on fox and right wing radio ad nauseum makes you a fucking dunce, nothing more. Take a class, read a book. And get to work on the Suckman comic, there's another genius like yourself around here with cartoonin' experience that can help

    Freezing rain is probably the worst winter weather of them all. But it makes for great YouTubes.
