Man, did I hate that guy like poison. He was always kissing Howard's ass and then shitting on everyone else that wasn't a main player. What a huge jerkoff. He also wanted to fire Jim Norton from the O&A show.

Hate? No. In hindsight, the wig was responsible for all the drama and BS...

Tom, it turns out, is a sweetheart but like PI Nate said, any animosity anyone ever felt toward him was Wiggy's doing. Howard's an ASSHOLE (I have come to truly believe). He repeated his rants so often, we all went along for the ride and his hate was our hate. I truly hate Howard now for all his manipulating.

    Yeah... I liked him.
Any guy who gives up masturbation to live up to a promise he made to God to get him through a bad turn with cancer is someone worthy of something worthwhile... if not exactly devotion.

I agree with you in principle, but Tom was far from lily-white. He was the boss throughout most of Howard's run at K-Rock, and two of the most essential pieces of the Howard Stern show were lost during his "reign".

Also, there was relatively recent relatively independent.................Carolla, perhaps...................confirmation of his cheapness.

It stands to reason: as station GM, his bonus depended on how much money he saved the company, i.e. how much he didn't pay the employees. That's why he hated Jackie so much; he was going right for Tom's wallet, basically. Anything "extra" he gave Jackie was coming out of his end.

Jackie broke it down during the O&A interview. He did the math and said he wanted 5% of the new affiliate fees, which amounted to $50,000. Tom scoffed and said it most certainly did not add up to $50,000, whipped out a calculator, then he found out that yes, in fact, it did. Then he mumbled something about Jackie needing to go to Howard and Don.

Now you could say that that meant that Howard and Don really ran the show, or you could say that Tom wasn't parting with any of his marbles to keep Jackie, but that Howard and Don were free to part with theirs. I choose to believe the latter.

At the end of the day he's a suit, and suits are talentless scumbags by nature.

    Either way, F Penelope

    I liked him
He was so straight laced. The perfect foil for Howard when Howard was a rebel rebel.

Cheaposano was awesome. I think Howard realizes that now. I think he still talks to the guy.

Tom's bureaucracy and corporate buffoonery gave Howard a counterpoint and an enemy to rally against. Most people can identify with suits telling them what to do. It created honest tension. Honesty and tension are two things really missing from the current show.

Tom was an extremely good guy, by all accounts. Remember how he bent over backwards to help KC?

Just like most of us, he just had a job to do. No reason to hate.

For all his golf talk his fundamentals were lacking, I was happy when stuttering John beat him.

Tom was the GM at KROCK for 20 years. That is very unusual in the radio business, so he could not have been as bad as Howard portrayed him.

Yeah I think so too after listening to some of the Shuffles. Him beating up his suit was great. And the fight he had with KC pretty genuine.

Howard said on more than one occasion that he misses Tom and still counts him as a friend, even spoke about going out for dinner with him a few times
