and these same 5 companies want to control the internet too?
Why, yes, yes, I did. It was started by the telecommunications deregulation act in 1996. I don't know if newspapers were included in that or not but somewhere along the line it became ok to own the TV and radio stations along with the newspaper in a market. It all snowballed from there.
here is an interesting photo
I had stock in ATT before the breakup. It made so much money after the breakup that I had to sell it. Geez. I'd be retired today if I had just held on to it. I'd have or had stock in every single entity on that chart.
That doesn't even have everything. Bell Labs and it's spinoffs aren't on there.
from 1 to 8 to 3
Yes I was aware.
The future of the internet
I thought the Joos controlled the mass media (?)
I started getting worried when huge companies like Times Mirror couldn't even make it on their own. It's happened in the food industry too. Jesus, remember when Nabisco only made cookies and crackers?
Frontier Communications and Cox Communications are notable exceptions.
I just hope the internet can stay a bastion of freedom
If that doesn't work out there is always Tor
Yes I knew this what I wanna know is why hasn't Vyb moved this thread yet?
Through conglomeration it will soon be one....legal too, just ax Rupert Murdoch
Can't we say the same thing about Canada?
Bell/Rogers/Quebecor.... what else is there? They control TV, newspapers, internet, etc....
Ha! Enjoy internet freedom while you can. Search engines ALONE are already self censoring and removing results that may affect their profits.....ie completions links
just pointing out an example most would know
buy local anada:
I stand corrected. I was thinking Nabisco owned Kraftco. It's the other way around.
