Anyone ever metal side a building like a barn? I've done a few repairs and cut in doors but have never done it from scratch. Just wanna know if there is anyone to bug if I get stuck with something.

Her realtor should be on top of this, not dumping it on your mom. Either the original inspector is qualified to check the roof or not. It doesn't take a lot of training to look at roofs. This could just be a negotiating ploy to lower the price. How quickly did your mom get an offer on the house? did it take long? If not, that probably means that homes of her size and neighborhood are selling well and she can tell the prospective buyers to go pound sand. If she's really worried about losing the sale, get a reputable roofing company out for a third opinion. Make sure that the roofer is very specific in describing the damage/wear so you can compare it with the buyer's guy. Tell him that you aren't going to use his roofing company, you just need an honest estimate. You'll probably have to pay him to come out.
The seller paid for the original inspection, right? Seems very fishy that they'd get a second inspection.

@Lemmy brought up a good point. I just assumed it was a complete re-roof job. As he said, if it isn't too expensive the most painless way might be just to get it done. But the original inspector should have found it.

It's been on the market I think about two months. The roof was completely redone about seven years ago after we had an enormous storm that destroyed her roof. They also had a separate mold inspector come out and he didn't find anything. I think they are going to tell the buyer to pound sand because they asked for a bunch of things which were agreed to, and then a few days before the inspection period is over they wanted $2300 more in roof repairs.

My mom's realtor said not to do the repairs/offer more off because of all of the things they previously agreed to.

    Thanks for your information, guys!

Edit: the lady signed to buy the house today without the roof repairs.

Anyone doing any home automation? I just added the Chamberlain MyQ gateway to control the garage door and it says its totally compatible with the Wink Home Automation system - just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this stuff.

I've messed around with the Samsung Smartthings hub. You can do some pretty cool shit and it's pretty simple to set up but IMO it's a security nightmare. My bro did his alarms but it's pretty trivial to kill the radio connection on the z-wave stuff. If you're not attaching mission critical stuff to it and don't mind spending lots of money it can be a fun thing to tinker with.

I just put a new controller on my sprinkler system. I can now run and adjust the sprinklers from anywhere in the world :cheer: it also tunes into the weather and won't run if it's supposed to rain.

@Mack Can you assist with a Ford parts question?

2005 Expedition. I have a leak. My guy is telling me it's some spider hose with a valve on it. Goes between the pump, the heaters and all kinds of other shit. Says it's like a $325 dollar hose. I can't seem to find it online.

    Does that make sense?

Yeah, it's not uncommon on those. Hit me with your last 8 of your VIN if you'd like and I'll look into it for you.

We talked about bypassing the heaters for now and just going straight hose but he wasn't positive it would work because of the lack of valve.

Is it the valve that's leaking? If so I think you can replace it separately. IIRC

He says it only comes as 1 piece. He said my valve is good, but because it's a "quick connect" (or something like that) he doesn't think he should splice the old valve on to a cheaper hose or he might break something putting it on.
