I trust my guy. The problem is, he knows it.
I like to just check his work once in a while. Make sure he's not getting over on me.

If he was charging you $190 for the hose, plus the labor to install it, he's treating you fairly. Especially if he's including a coolant flush. If he hasn't mentioned flushing your coolant I'd do it while you're there.

That being said, a lot of shops frown on customer supplied parts, but if he's cool with it I'd order them a pizza or throw in a case of his favorite beer.

Just went through a huge ordeal with an older Ford with the heater bypass thingamajig. :pissed: Goddamn water pump propeller was disintegrating and clogging the core. Had to change pump and clamp off the bypass to properly flush the core. Hopefully that valve assembly isn't similar.

I checked my brake fluid the other day and was a bit disturbed by the color so I was gonna flush it out. Kind of a PITA but well worth it to keep the moisture out of the system. The car is 4 years old and I like to change the fluid every other year. I called a shop I trust to see how much they wanted to do the job. $30 labor.

I'll keep my hands clean on this one.

They probably lost the title to an SRT Demon and you'll see someone towing it away soon.

I think I'm going to go with the Wink hub - pretty much not doing anything "mission critical" as you say - remotely controlling the thermostat, garage door and maybe some lights. I've never had an alarm or anything but wouldnt mind a camera or two to watch the dog and cat. :jj:

Any advice or opinions on a Daikin split ductless AC unit? I'm sick of the heat and ready to throw money at the problem. I want to keep this 10x12 bedroom/home office cool in the heat. It's hot 11 months out of the year here. Maybe 12.

Not much help but they use them where I work in the elevators of a remote parking garage. They are fairly large as people movers go but nothing like a 10 x 12 room. The lifts are always cool and i have never noticed any problems.

So, my garage door opener rail assembly shit the bed. Buy a new one you say? Fuck that. I located the stud in the ceiling, punched in two eye screws, drilled a hole in the top and use a coat hanger to tie that shit all together... Good as new. :c

Fluid changes are totally underrated. I bought one of those cheap bleeder cups. Makes brake bleeds a breeze.
