Now I have sap on my hands just from bringing it inside.
The real trees are very smelly and messy... but the fake ones give money to China instead of local farmers...

Real all the way. Worth the effort. Sometimes sink them afterwards in lake as fish habitat.

I like both. When I have the time, I like a real tree with the pine smell that goes throughout the house. Otherwise, a good fake tree is handy to get out, set up and put away, and it doesn't shed needles.

I was always an advocate of real trees but in the past 20 years fake trees seem indistinguishable from real trees and pay for themselves after on a couple years. The down side is you have to store them. Real trees shed, leak sap, cab be fire hazards and can carry insects. You have to water them and dispose of them. Their advantage is they smell nice.

I like fake, if only because of the mess that real ones leave behind. I'm too hungover for that shit.

When I was very young we had a foil tree with a color wheel. Very popular item in the vintage crowd. Saw one going for $340 on an online auction.

btw This time I got my real tree from Home Depot... they are making competition and lowering the tree prices. I am paying half as much now and you can get 'em at the grocery store, etc.

    I love my fake tree.
It's in 3 pieces and all wired up. Takes about 5 minutes to put up and take down and looks pretty damn good.
Used to get real ones every year for a long time but I got tired of shoveling pine needles out the back door after squeezing the dried up tree outside after New Year.

When we had a real tree, our cats would climb up in it, knock over ornaments, and scratch it so the needles were all over the place. Once we got a fake tree, they left it alone so fake tree it is....
