watching a crime show, and I've read many accounts where the psychics come through.
Maybe for every one we hear of 100 mess up.
    But maybe there's something there.
    What do you think?

Of course not. Anybody who has any kind of psychic or other supernatural powers would have just collected the $1 million that James Randi has offered for almost 20 years to anybody who can demonstrate it.

To be fair, he's also pussed out on paying people he couldn't debunk. You have to fill out an application process and submit what you can do to a panel or something. He's very selective.

Police departments shouldn't be lending credibility to those dicks.

In don't remember where I read or heard it. It might have been Leigh Speigel who writes for the Huffington Post talking about Yuri Geller but I may be wrong.

If that's the sole basis of your memory, I don't think you should be making such a strong statement about it accusing him of reneging on his offer if you don't even know any of the details. Obviously, there's an application process and you have to be able to articulate exactly what it is that you claim to be able to do. It also has to be something capable of being tested and demonstrated or disproved objectively. Can you imagine some of the fucking nutjobs they're dealing with in the pool of people who believe they have supernatural powers and abilities? If someone thinks he has powers to predict the future or locate dead bodies, all he needs to collect the prize it write out his prediction on a piece of paper or draw a circle on a map.

[EDIT] Thanks for the article. It doesn't sound to me like he reneged on anything to anybody who took the challenge. Basically, a critic argued that the odds were set too high and then they lowered the odds by a factor of 10 afterwards. Still, if you can bend spoons with your mind, move objects without touching them, or a thousand other things people have claimed that they can do, it shouldn't be a problem to pay your own expenses to get there, let them do whatever they want with the data, and forgo any lawsuits for hurting yourself in the process. Write down that you can move coins across the table with your mind on the application, show up, do it, and collect your money. Unless you can't really do anything supernatural at all.
