    I bought a melon yesterday. Now looking at the packaging, it says copyright from Monsanto and the name is Melorange. I think I am going to return it. I don't even eat those activia yogurts with proprietary bacteria.

    It's too late to avoid - it's in the ecosystem. I'll eat it for the advantages, but none of us can escape any potential downsides. Cheery today, aren't I?

    I am not sure how it woks in the US, but, in Canada the product codes tell you if it is genetically modified. For instance, if the code on the banana says 4011 it is a regularly produced banana. If the code had an 8 in front of it such as 84011 then the banana is genetically modified. If the banana had a 9 in front such as 94011 then it is certified organic.

    In Summary:
    4011 = regular
    84011 = genetically modified
    94011 = certified organic.

    I only know this because I read a book on Paleo diet a few years ago.

    People are living longer than ever now, maybe all this genetically modified food really isn't so bad for you.

    off topic but I was at the fancy new Asian market yesterday and impulsively bought a durian. I have no clue what to do with it. the internet is telling me that they taste awful.

    Holy crap. Open it outside. Smells like propane when you open it. Texture inside is like scrambled eggs (mush) and tastes onionish to me. Only ever did that experiment once. Would never taste again.

    Here in Europe, I think all that is banned anyways, but when I visit the U.S. I'm not sure how to tell??

    One thing for sure when I've eaten Activia, it makes me sick.

    We eat only certified organic or certified non-GMO. Food here in the USA is poison.

    Unfortunately, here in 'Merica, we label non-gmo food but not gmo food. So, unless it's clearly labeled non-gmo or USDA Certified Organic, assume you're eating a GMO. Frreaking mess here.

    I don't think that's right, certified organic does not mean non GMO from what I've seen.

    Edit, correction. Organic is non GMO
