Here is the week at least I hold my breath. I won't fly Chicago to NY Frupiday. If I had tickets, I'd be apprehensive to attend the Bears Sunday. On one hand, i feel like a wus. On the other, the world seems like it's coming undone and overrun with people taking matters into their own hands, whether cop killers or rogue ISIS affiliates.
Besides remembering those lost and those still defending U.S., what about you? Does this week out you on edge and do you do anything differently?

Nah. I figure the odds of me dying in a terror attack are slim to none. I do wonder if something may happen somewhere though. So i guess if i had to travel on that day, it would be a different story! But i personally do not get nervous, or worry.

of course. it was bad enough here after 9/11. for weeks after, any time we heard anything that might remotely be a plane overhead all street traffic would stop and everyone on Broadway would look up and watch. it was a regular occurrence. even now if i were commuting to NJ i would stay away from the subway and take the ferry this week.

we wont expect it when it happens next time...

will be something big like a nuclear plant, or turning off the power grid in a city for a few days

I remember stupidly reading Drudge Report for weeks after that.

Damn site was a constant bombardment of doom. Anthrax, suitcase nukes. I couldn't sleep.

And yes, I'm a big pussy.

pretty sure we watch for those all the time now, but especially around this week in NYC. I know we took some special precautions and changes to the infrastructure to eliminate weaknesses that existed then. for example, I am in Manhattan but my utilities do not come from Manhattan anymore. Its why Hurricane Sandy did not cause me any difficulties besides ruining my downstairs. We have re-routes feeds and sources to multiple areas thru various different pathways.

i don't think it is a problem, but those of us who were here still respond. many just leave the city this week. Labor Day provides a convenient excuse.

i used to be into listening to cellphones before the conversion to digital (too much trouble to bother with digital signals) but i'm sure most of the authorities here monitor and have backdoors into things like whatapp

I'm more concerned about a homegrown nutjob pulling out a gun in a public place and mowing down a dozen people because society didn't coddle him enough. I take public transportation everyday and with the increase of mass shootings I'm starting to become more and more anxious when I get on the lightrail because there is no security, nothing stopping someone from walking on with a gun and killing everyone between stops. Foreign terrorism and the anniversary of 9/11 doesn't concern me nearly as much as some nutjob sitting at home right now hating his life and the world enough to go out and kill innocent people in a public place tomorrow or any day after that, any day of the year.

It has nothing to do with the date. It's all about places.
The tunnels and bridges around NYC specifically.

    :worried:
