I know at least a couple of you are into them.

My understanding is it's the band's least favorite record, but for me it's Steady Diet of Nothing. It's the one I come back to the most.

I don't normally listen to this type of music, but it's not bad. Is this punk?

Pretty much, if you don't get caught up in labels and sub-genres. It gets called post-punk, or early on it got labeled emo, when that meant emotional hardcore and not a sad dude with eyeliner and an acoustic guitar. One of the singers (the screamer) fronted Minor Threat before Fugazi.

For those of you who don't know Fugazi, they all came out of DC hardcore bands and cooked up this fusion of punk and dub reggae. They wanted to make hardcore people could dance to. For many years they maintained a strict rule that they would only play a venue if the admission was no higher than $5 US, and minors were allowed in (and they packed up and threatened to leave many shows when the promoter tried to break that deal).

They ran their own label and booked their own tours for their whole career, and passed on every attempt by a major to sign them.

I always get annoyed by sub-genre labels, I just call things Punk, Metal, Rock etc. Just the generic terms.

Prolly 13 Songs, Ian MacKaye should be in the R&R HOF.
Did anyone here ever see Minor Threat?
I wish, but I did see a bunch of Fugazi gigs.
