    i followed alton brown's recipe and liked it a lot. only alton uses an electric skillet and i used my french oven.

    5 sweet onions, first cut in half around the equator...

    then sliced into half moons and added to a french oven with 3 tbsp of melted butter. mmm...butter...

    i added some kosher salt to the onions as i added them to the french oven. temp was on med/med-low and i just put them in there to sweat and didn't touch them for about 20 minutes. after 20 mins i gave them a quick stir...

    onions then have to cook down for about an hour with an occasional stir so i got the other stuff ready. beef consume, chicken stock, apple cider, white wine, and a bouqet garni made of 2 bay leaves, a few sprigs of thyme, and parsley...

    ok, now you fuckers are done. added the white wine and cooked down a bit. this is just a little butter, a lot of onions, heat, time, and some white wine...
