I'm trying to find alternatives to paying 100+ a month for Directv. Any ideas? I've been looking at the Amazon Fire Stick that's preloaded with Kodi for sale on eBay. Does anyone have one? Thanks Shed!

If you live close to an area with a lot of TV stations, you can get them for free with a decent antenna. You will be shocked by the quality of the picture compared with DirecTV if you have a decent TV. All of the video providers with the exception of Fios, compress the shit out of their content. I can get dozens of stations in DFW with only a rabbit ear antenna. If I had an antenna mounted in my Attic, I would probably get a lot more.
If you go with Hulu or one of the other streaming services like the, you will still have to pay someone for your internet.
If you are a sports fan, it will be difficult to watch much ESPN without having cable or some type of video provider.

All of the streaming services have decent quality pictures but they do compress/leave out information in order to fit it into available bandwidth.

I wasn't implying that Fios does not compress their video; they do. Just less than any other provider hence their picture quality is way better than most.

I can afford pay tv so I still have it. If you like live sports and a wide variety of channels it's still better than cutting the cord. Many people are paying more now than they did before. Stand alone subs for HBOGO, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, ect... adds up and you end up paying more for a very few select premium subscription services. Oh and you still need to pay for high speed internet usually from a cable provider. So what's the point? I can see cord cutting if you don't subscribe to all those services and just rely on over the air.

You can watch pretty much everything you want online, so I really don't get why cable still exists. :dontknow:

Because it's still easier and more convenient to hit the On button on your remote then dealing with downloads and buffering issues. Also you don't have easy access to live event shows. But what ever works for you is cool.

If you know the right places to go, it's not an issue. We still have cable, but barely watch TV. :jj:
