so, if this is your assessment, do you prefer the word 'hiatus' ?
No. Whatever makes someone happy as long as it doesn't fuck me over is fine with me. I don't get it and think it's someone who is a drama queen but what do I know.
I think it's quite civilized and reasonable. Sometimes essential.
^^ above are two great, positive posts
this is exactly what i was hoping would come from this thread.
Shit piles are coming again soon, shit mult.
no. If I was to make a negative comment about it I can assure you it would be jealousy talking.
in my opinion, a sabbatical can be a short & sweet get away . . . perhaps by means of playing yoga, prayer, cycling, running, walking. regular practice of such can be extremely health for one's body and mind.
conversely, some may take an approach of 'fucking off' to mexico without notice or binge drinking with local co-eds. any enjoyment from this getaway is short lived and unsatisfying, of course.
I think I'll change my resume to show that I took a sabbatical for about 9 months.
No, but you have to have a real and stressful job to actually claim you took a sabbatical.
some substitute sabbatical for drop out

I had quite a few MADs going back into the 60's that I inherited from older brothers...when I was away at college, my mom threw them away....
I have a ton of them taking up space in my house. I keep thinking i'm going to try to sell them on ebay.
There are companies that force sabbaticals.
Intel is one of them...After 7 years I believe they make you take two months.
