I have multiple systems set up.

I have some huge speakers. You can't get good sound without moving some air.

    Mock what you don't understand.

Most of my shit runs on vacuum tubes.

I am sure your 1" chinese speakers sound just as good.

Windows 10 does not recognize 5.1 or 7.1 sound. Pisses me off.

    I am 39.

    Sit and listen.

Not all vinyl sounds better. But well made, well mastered tracks are like listening in 3-D.

I listen to CD's and digital tracks too.

Nothing beats the spinning black circle.

I have a bunch CDs, tapes and vinyl and honestly I just want to get rid of it all. Been collecting for years, it just takes up so much space... a whole room in my house stuffed full. Been converting most of it to mp3, fuck it. I've got a pretty nice stereo system but I find myself listening to my Bose computer speakers more often just out of convenience.

Because your eyes see the spinning black circle. Same as the glow of tubes. Blindfolded you couldn't tell the difference between a properly encoded digital file and a vinyl. 100% guaranteed. At 39 chances are you can't hear above 18kHz, probably more like 16k and @44.1 sample rate those are a breeze to digitize accurately. Keep enjoying your tubes and records but dont tell me its because of your ears.

    real question..

I plug my record player directly into my line-in on my computer.
    It records @ 24bit/192khz
If I replay this file, is the sound going to sound EXACLTY like the vinyl just did... I would like to say YES.
I've been doing this now since i learned real pirates steal in 24/192 and its glorious.
But am i being digitally deceived?

*yes potential noise coming from the computer, but many motherboards(like mine) discrete that portion of the board, and its supposed to have a great signal to noise ratio too

I've read some articles about this in the past and most audiophiles claim that vinyl is the superior format. Apparently mp3s compress the sound and you end up losing infomation/sound in the process, not sure about lossless formats, etc. I'm sure there's someone here who can explain it better, but honestly who cares. Most mp3s sound just fine to me and that's all that matters.
