Yesterday a "Random" caller asked Howard if Robin has ever heard of Sepsis.

Howard replied: YESH.... I am sure she has heard of Sepsis...then hung up. :bee:

    Question
    a)What is Sepsis ?
    b) Could Robin have Sepsis?

    Show all work.

Sepsis is an illness in which the body has a severe response to bacteria or other germs. This response may be called systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).

A relative died from that, it only took a couple hours, some sort of internal infection. You don't even see it coming.

    i'm here!

but i'm not a "real" doctor...

I'm not smart like Robin the nurse.

But i don't think Robin is septic, FWIW.

i think she has a colostomy bag.

If she had SIRS she would be in a hospital ICU and not working from home.

Sepsis is when you have an infection that has spread throughout the body. Say you start off with strep infection that is not treated and it spreads, through the blood, the lymph system, etc. It can happen quickly and it can be fatal. I believe famous Muppet creator Jim Henson died of sepsis because he failed to treat pneumonia timely.

flash eating bacteria :giggle:, she is fucked.

No, it's bacterial infection that pollutes your entire body. It will eventually start shutting down your organs...and quickly!

SIRS and MRSA are a huge concern for health care workers.
