I'm not talking about 10 bucks, has anybody actually won 1 million or more in a lottery?
I think we need a Powerball subforum at this point.
I worked with one of the first million-dollar winners in the Texas lottery back in the early 90's.
Yes, I worked with her at KNBC, very sweet lady and I was thrilled when I heard the news.
My old neighbor won like $120,000. He used it as a downpayment on a home for his family. He bought a nice house next door and did lots of renovations himself. Built up equity in his lottery winnings.
His wife cheated on him and they had a nasty divorce. He lost the house to her. She lived there a bit longer with the kids but could not afford to stay.
He has none of that money.
Oh yes I forgot. She cheated on him with one of his good friends.
I won the genetic lottery.
That's cold. I guess like P Diddy once said "Mo Money, Mo Problems". At least I think I was P Diddy, or Puffy or whatever he was calling himself back then.
My mistake, it was Notorious BIG
(1) my brothers friend won a few million..shortly thereafter got divorced, married the nanny and moved to hawaii.
(2) got sent to paint a chimney in a condo in vegas..I heard the owner won the lotto, bought a night club and several condos on the floor.
I knock and this absolutely perfect 10 barely dressed answers the door, half asleep she turns her head and yells "painter"..
I walk in, another around 20 year old 10 walks by, the owner walks in the room wearing only underwear and starts telling me to look out the window at a billboard. He said he just bought to advertise his night club opening. He says what color he wants the bricks painted..
so I paint em.
(3) go to a house in the mountains with my boss to give an estimate on a repaint. Lotto winner just bought it. He had landscapers lay gravel paths throughout his acreage..no one bothered to tell the city slicker the 1st winter snow would destroy those nice paths. We painted it, price was no object.
Payday my parents won $3.2 million though shared it with 15 other coworkers...damn it
No shit? You didn't get anything? That sucks
After lump sum and taxes, my parents ended up with $70,000. A nice chunk of change but it's not like they could retire. Though they gave me $1,000 so that was nice.
And then they had to pay another $15,000 in taxes the next year.
Friend at work who was fired for getting a DUI, which lead to him going bankrupt and divorced won a few million......the ex wife wasn't happy...
Yes. 9 co workers won just under $1M each after taxes.
Yes and they were already a wealthy family in our small, poorish area. We were all so happy for them.
That's it? No interesting story to tell?
Sounds like a country and western song!
Nice. Perfect ending.
